Registrations are now being accepted for Young Writers of the Lost Horse, the 6th annual young adult writing and book arts conference, sponsored by Lost Horse Press and the East Bonner County Free Library District. Creative writing and book arts workshops—taught by graduate MFA students—Stacy McCullough, Michelle Kozlowski and Rachel Kartz—from Eastern Washington University’s Writers in the Community program—will take place on 30 and 31 May 2008 in the Rude Girls Room of the Sandpoint Library, on the corner of Division and Cedar Streets. In addition, Sandpoint performance artist/poet/singer/songwriter, Emily Baker, will instruct a class in performance art. Public, private or home-schooled students in grades 5 through 12 who live in Bonner or Boundary counties are invited to register for this FREE event.

For additional information, please contact Lost Horse Press at 208.255.4410, email losthorsepress@mindspring.com. Registration forms and additional information are also available at all branches of the East Bonner County Library. You may also download the registration form here [pdf]. This project is made possible by a donation from the Marilynne Robinson Young Writers Fund.

Lost Horse Press and the East Bonner County Library established the Marilynne Robinson Young Writers Fund to honor Sandpoint-born writer, Marilynne Robinson, whose novel, Gilead, won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize. Donations to the Fund will be used to provide honoraria to writing and book arts instructors, to purchase required supplies, to match funds for grants, to cover instructors’ travel expenses, and to help with cost of publicity and outreach for the annual Young Writers of the Lost Horse creative writing and book arts conference. To learn more about the Marilynne Robinson Young Writers Fund or to make a tax-deductible contribution, please contact Gloria Ray at the Sandpoint Library, 263.6930.
