Book Launching, Reading, & Book Signing for Just Waking by Christopher Howell June 6, 2003
A book launching, reading, and book signing to celebrate the publication of Christopher Howell's latest collection of poems, Just Waking, will be held at 7:30 pm on 6 June 2003 at Auntie's Books, 402 West Main Street, Spokane, Washington. The public is invited to attend this free event.
Just Waking is Christopher Howell's seventh collection of poems. His poems, essays, and translations have also appeared in a number of anthologies and journals, including Antioch Review, Crazy Horse, Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, Field, Gettysburg Review, Harper's, Hudson Review, Iowa Review, Northwest Review, and Volt. He has been recipient of three Pushcart Prizes and two National Endowment fellowships, as well as a number of other awards. Born in Oregon, he lives now in Spokane, Washington, where he teaches at Eastern Washington University's Inland NW Center for Writers and directs the Eastern Washington University Press.
Poet Patricia Goedicke has written lavish praise for Just Waking:
"It is a great pleasure, once again, to listen to the particular play of Christopher Howell's mind, his elegant rhythms and graceful rhetoric; and, beside all that craftsmanship and intelligence, how good to encounter that lovely eye for flesh, for the succulent things of this world."
The Lost Horse Northwest Poetry Series for Emerging Writers is dedicated to works—often ignored by conglomerate publishers—which are so much in danger of vanishing into obscurity in what has become the age of chain stores and mass appeal food, movies, art and books.
